Geography is the study of the world around us and how humans interact with it. Geography teaches students to understand and resolve issues about the environment and the natural world. It is an important link between the environment and social sciences and it teaches students about differentsocieties and cultures.
At DES we learn about the natural world and the built environment. We consider ways in which human activities are damaging the natural systems that we rely on and think about issues that our growing cities are facing. Most importantly, we learn about possible solutions to these problems.
We live in an information age in which we have access to levels of information that our forbearers could never have dreamed of. What Geography does is help our students make sense of this information and prepares them for life in the 21st century.
