Qatar Petroleum provides qualified nurses on the school site. Any child who is ill can go to the School Nurse independently, e.g. at break time, on recommendation of any teacher during lessons, or they can be escorted by a member of staff or another student. The School Nurse performs routine hygiene checkups, treats minor ailments, can refer students to the Medical Centre or telephones parents to collect their child if necessary. All accidents/illnesses are recorded by the School Nurse and placed in the student’s file.
Any child with an infection e.g. infected cuts, ear infection etc., should not swim. If there is any doubt as to the fitness of a particular child before P.E. or swimming lessons, the child will be referred to the School Nurse. Her decision will finally determine whether or not the child takes part in the lesson. The following vaccinations should be given before School entry; Diphtheria, Whooping Cough, Tetanus, Polio, Haemophilus, Influenza Type B (H.I.B.). Given in the first year: Measles, Mumps and Rubella; given in the second year: Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio - given as a pre School booster.
