Curriculum >> Key Stage 2 >> PE
In KS2 children will take part
in a range of activities which include; Invasion, Net and Striking and Fielding
Games, Swimming, Dance, Gymnastics and Athletics. The well-balanced curriculum
gives them an opportunity to take part in a range of activities, which encourage
lifelong participation in sport. As the children progress though KS2 the sports
and skills that they take part in will become more challenging, whilst still
keeping in mind their range of abilities. This is done through various methods
of differentiation in the activities set.
Again, where possible we try
to link parts of the PE curriculum to the thematic approach in Primary.
Throughout the year, we will look at the various themes and incorporate key
concepts, which aid in their learning. We will try to link themes such as body
and skeleton into most activities especially when learning the importance of
warming up and the roles our body parts have in different skills or movements.
In gymnastics and dance, we may try to incorporate one of the suggested poems
or key texts.
