In KS1 the children are fully engaged and enthused by the new thematic curriculum. In order to achieve this, exciting topics have been created to cover English National Curriculum objectives and that are relevant to our context, living in Qatar. Carefully planned topics ensure a balanced curriculum coverage across the Primary years. The learning is contextualised where possible and the use of a range of quality texts provide concrete learning experiences for our children.

In every KS1 classroom there is a role play area which links to the topic, when the children can develop their speaking and listening skills whilst engrossed in practical activities. There are exciting displays with interactive resources the children can use to help them learn.

To begin each topic every year group plans a 'Hook Day' which 'hooks' the children in and begins to create exciting memories filled with challenging learning opportunities. The 'Final Wow Day' concludes each topic with a huge celebration of what the children have learned.

Subjects that are taught 'thematically' include History, Geography, Art, Design and Technology, Science, Music, Computing and PE. Our Music, PE and Computing Specialists plan and link the curriculum where possible.
